The Grand Palace
The magnificent and dazzling Grand Palace is undoubtedly the most famous landmark in Bangkok. It is a sight to behold without which no visit to the city would be complete. It was built in 1782 and for 150 years was the home of the Thai king, the royal court and the administrative headquarters of the government. The Grand Palace in Bangkok is truly a great old lady, who continues to amaze visitors with its stunning architecture and intricate details, which is a proud salute to the creativity and craftsmanship of the Thai people. Within its walls there were also the Thai war ministry, state departments and even the mint. Today, the complex remains the spiritual heart of the Thai Kingdom.
Inside the palace complex there are several buildings, Palazzo Chakri (which can only be visited from the outside), the Palazzo Dusit and Palazzo Montien, which can only be visited inside in certain periods, including the impressive Wat Phra Kaew ( Temple of the Emerald Buddha), Wat Phra Kaeo, the most sacred Buddhist place of the Kingdom, where the most important statue, the Emerald Buddha, is located
