Historic City of Ayutthaya
The Ayuthayya Historical Park serves as a witness to Ayuthayya's history which was looted and burned by invaders. It is located on an island surrounded by three rivers and comprises of the ruins of temples and palaces of the ancient Ayuthayya kingdom. The park contains several museums and temples that are a refelction of the cultural history and the development of Thai art. The Chao Sam Phraya National Museum exhibits the wealth of artifacts discoverd during excavation. The Ayutthaya Historical Park, declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1981, has much to offer, from temples and museums to an elephant Park.
