What To Expect

Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Lokayasutharam)
The important feature Wat Lokayasutharam is a huge reclining Buddha image, called Phra Bhuddhasaiyart, which faces to the east. It was constructed of bricks and cement in the art style cf the Middle Ayutthaya Period. It is 37 meters long and 8 meters high. There are other impressive Reclining Buddha Images in Ayutthaya, but this seems to be the largest.

One great way to visit the past

If visiting Ayutthaya is in your to do list, I would suggest you to use this way. A little pricey but the guide Siri is helpful and gives insight to history of the temples and also takes to the museum to see the artefacts that cant be found anywhere else.
Lunch is included and the vegetarian options are pretty limited. But they made 4 special dishes just for us..

Yishim and driver Boy were more than excellent. Yo should be a history professor for young bright college minds. Likable, makes learning Thai history fun. Never a dull moment. Kind, compassionate and treated his clients like family. No detours for kickbacks. The impossible, exhausting schedule flew by smooth as the glassy water of the Rivers. He provided snacks, water, rest. Successfully accomadated a 3 generation age span from 3 different countries. 30 yr_66 yr old. We all loved our tours and Yo. Boy the driver was laid back, experienced. Don't think I ever felt safer. I was referred to him by Wanpen who guides through AirBnB. Missed her tour the day before, my lack of communication?? She was able to meet my needs for the next day, today and it was fabulous.
This tour stands out from the rest!

If you go to ayutthaya interested in the history of Thailand and truly understanding the ancient culture, a tour like this is a must. This tour is the only that I found that visits more of the temples and also stops at the museum. The museum is a must because the most valuable objects have been removed from the temples for preservation, and live at the museum. I toyed with doing a trip myself but the information provided by Siri was more than worth the cost, plus the convince of being picked from my hotel and an a/c vehicle to show me around was super nice.

Siri was a fantastic guide, and the lunch was high end. Highly recommend as the best way to visit ayutthaya!
Great value tour of Ayutthaya temples

Booked this tour through Tripadvisor. We chose the tour because it visited more temples in Ayutthaya than most of the other tours that we found. Meeting point was very easy to reach via BTS Chong Nonsi. Minivan was comfortable and our tour guide Mr Siri was absolutely fantastic!
Siri was amazing

Hubby and I booked this tour through GetYourGuide and were joined by another 7 adults in the minivan from 7.20am to 5.30pm. The easy air conditioned ride to each site was very much appreciated, especially as light rain followed us for most of the day! Siri is a repository of knowledge about the Ayutthayan ruins and Thai culture in general, but especially demonstrates an understanding of historiography in providing his clear, objective explanations. Our driver was very obliging and kind, offering us cool sanitary face wipes as the afternoon heated up and kept the minivan clean and mud-free as we traipsed on and off. Lunch at the international buffet was perfectly acceptable. If you keep in mind the number of sites visited and photo opportunities (Siri knows all the best angles, by the way), you would also understand the tight schedule that the tour pace must keep. All in all, hubby and I agree that it a day well spent!

CON: space in the minivan is tight and the back seats are elevated. This made it difficult to look out the window when Siri pointed things out as we drove past. So board first and sit at the front!
