The floating markets are a fascinating experience, a complete contrast to how we shop for food in the west and are made up of Thai style canoes laden with colorful and succulent fruits, vegetables, sweets, and meats - gently plying their way through the canal, selling as they go. It is one of the most popular Thai sightseeing experiences and not to be missed. If you want to take a closer look your local Thai guide will help you organize a local boat ride through the markets (optional extra).

Bridge Over the River Kwai
The building of the bridge in 1943 was part of a wartime project to link existing Thai and Burmese railway lines to create a direct route from Bangkok, Thailand to Rangoon, Burma (now Myanmar) in an effort to support the Japanese occupation of Burma. Over 100,000 conscripted laborers and 12,000 prisoners of war died during the whole project.

Excellent tour with a great guide mr. poo who tells a lot about the history of Thailand and the bridge on the River Kwai. There was also a very good lunch included.
The Past in the Present

Having watched the film with my Dad several times, it's a place I wanted to visit - Bridge on River Kwai (both for my departed Dad and myself). I was not disappointed. History was brought to light - I felt a sense of peace, I was moved but the images of the Men who fought for peace and freedom, something we take for granted. I felt tormented by the suffering in the images and the realisation that humans can be so cruel. I event felt like an intruder myself when walking on the bridge but I know without those brave people we would not have the luxury of freedom. If anything, it gave me the opportunity to pay my respects and whisper a "Thank you" for their bravery and sacrifice. A true historic place!

One of the things I wanted to see most was the floating markets (as I'd heard so much about it). I wasn't disappointed at all. I loved the buzz of the tourists and locals as they bartered and tried to get a sale from boats passing by. If you've never experienced a waterways traffic jam then this will be your first! A must experience.

Chance to see the Thai way of living

We visited the floating markets, it was interesting to see how the floating markets operated and to see Thai people actually cooking on the floating boats. We would recommend you go on the rowing boats to get a full experience of the floating markets.
The visit to the bridge over the river Kwai was ok, nice to see where the film was made and to walk along the bridge. The museum was disappointing, it was just a walking way filled with photographs and pictures.
The guide was very pleasant throughout the trip, giving us plenty of information about the places visits and about Thailand in general.
The one downside was the amount of time spent on a minibus, but I expect that in the places visited. At least the minibus was clean and comfortable
Great day!!
