Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Ratchaburi is one of the most popular floating markets in Thailand. Every day many Thai and foreign tourists travel here to shop, eat, and absorb the atmosphere of Thailand water markets that have been like this for over a 100 years.Klong Damnoen Saduak Damnoen Saduak is the straightest and longest canal in Thailand. The canal was built on royal initiative as King Rama IV of Thailand wanted to link the Mae Klong River with Chinese river ways to support transportation and trade. It took over 2 years to dig, and was eventually finished under the reign of his successor King Rama V. The canal is 32 kilometers long and has more than 200 branches.Damnoen Saduak Floating Market’s popularity grew to new heights in 1971 – 1973 when the river was full of farmers on their boats selling their wares. And that is the way trade is performed in this area until todays.

Very well organized with a great tour guide

We were supposed to only to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market but they had a problem and they add us to a longer tour that included the train market. It was a wonderful experience and we learned a lot about Thailand during the driving there.
Victor was an amazing tour guide. He knows a lot and he was also very kind and polite. He was always paying attention so he didn't miss any person from our group. A couple didn't show up on time to leave the market and he went above and beyond to find them.
Very well organized and the van was comfortable with great A/C which is so important when being in Bangkok.
One important thing: if you don't like public transportation, do not take the train tour because it is a very cheap train with no A/C. I think it was a very local experience but it could be bad for other people. See how it looks from the outside in my pictures.

Excellent host, very engaging and informative, thoroughly enjoyed this tour and was the highlight of our stay in Bangkok. Kids aged 16, 15, 12, 10 all enjoyed it.
Colorful Floating Market

Excellent day trip from Bangkok. The Damnoen Saduak floating market is about an hour and a half drive from the city. On the way there we stopped at a coconut farm, where we got to sample coconut sugar & coconut syrup. We enjoyed visiting the owners home. They had a small store there where we were able to purchase a cold fresh coconut for 20 baht.
At the floating market we enjoyed a 30 minute boat ride. The market was very colorful and the people were kind. We had time to explore the market and eat lunch. We ate at Wandee Authentic Thai Food Recipes. We had Curry and Pad Thai, the food was delicious.
Our guide was amazing, she was very informative and spoke excellent English. She was even kind enough to show us the BTS route to our next stop of the Chatuchak Weekend Market. Aloha!

Pen was an excellent guide—full of insights about Bangkok. Floating village remains entirely for tourists now but still an interesting backdrop in time.

This is a good tour but it felt like a lot of travelling for two sites. Having said that we loved both and would recommend, but maybe not even f you have little ones.
The days was paced well, with plenty of time at both the railway and floating market. The guides were excellent and always on hand if you had questions.
